Safe Start

Drowning is the second leading cause of injury-related death for children ages 1 through 4 years. Florida is the second highest ranked in the nation for drowning-related deaths. The Central Florida YMCA's Safe Start program is one of the most comprehensive drowning prevention programs in the United States.

At the end of 2006, the Central Florida YMCA had received 21 letters from Safe Start parents. These letters mentioned that without the drowning prevention program, their child would not be here today. Through the Safe Start program we not only build strong kids, we build a strong family by making a difference in their lives.
